Hello everyone!
Welcome to a brand new school year that’s sure to be filled with lots of fun and exciting learning experiences. We have had a busy summer here at the school. A big transition that was very smooth due to the great help and understanding from parents and community. We would like to thank you for all your help and support.
We have kept the same format for our nursery school and kindergarten class rooms and we added a new Montessori classroom to provide for parents who are interested to enroll their children in Montessori and so far we had many great feed back from parents and our classroom is almost full.
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of our new students to the school and we are happy to see how many of you continue coming to school even after all the changes and to join us for another fun-filled year. We would also like to name all our staff as you know some of them from the past. Miss Ellie, Ms. Farima, Ms. Silvana for Morning and afternoon Classes and Miss Kelly and Miss Chloe to assist us with after school pick up and care. All our Members have their First Aid and CPR certification.
For all parents and caregivers whose children are in our program, please ensure that your child has with them:
- a full change of clothes including socks
- diapers and wipes (we do not provide these necessities)
- indoor slippers (that have not been worn outside)
We provide snack. Snack is always standard fare: apples, bananas, oranges, a couple of cookies and water. If you would like to send along a special snack on your child’s show and tell or book-share day, or cupcakes or treats on your son/daughter’s birthday that would be great! He/she will have an opportunity to share it at snack time with classmates. Due to the increasing number of allergy alerts, please make sure that all snacks and treats are NUT FREE. Thank you for your consideration.
We are offering an 8:45 am early drop off option. Space is limited and the cost per month is an additional $50/monthly for Monday/Wed/Fri classes and $35/monthly for Tuesday/Thurs.
Please make sure to provide us with all post- dated cheques for the full year as it creates more time and focus for us to take care of your children when we have less administration to deal with.
The doors will open for class at 9:00am and 1:00pm sharp. Please do not allow your child to ring the bell incessantly before the doors open as the teachers are in class preparing for the day ahead.
Dismissal is at 11:30am and 3:30pm sharp. A $1/minute late fee will be charged without exception for every minute late after the five minutes grace period.
Please note that from October a calendar will go home at the beginning of each month. A copy of the calendar is at the bottom of this page for you, however we will send a hard copy with each child home at the end of the month. This calendar will inform you of events and need to know information for the month ahead. The calendar will have the weekly themes for learning posted in the left hand column. The day on which your child’s name appears will be their show and tell day. If your child is 2-3 yrs old she/he is encouraged to bring an item such as a photograph or a simple storybook that they are familiar with. This is your child’s first exposure to public speaking. Photos and stories usually provide more to elaborate on and converse about. If your child is older than 3 yrs old She/he is encouraged to bring a book to share with class. Please note that it is book-share for kindergarten and not show and tell. Your child must bring a story book from home that they are familiar with and that they are able to retell to the class in their own words. Please do not allow him/her to bring toys or books like I Spy or Where is Waldo?. These books are not conducive to presentations to larger groups. The children end up piled up on the presenter’s toes in attempts to locate hidden objects.
Our monthly themes for the kindergarten will be:
September: All About me/ Families
October: Four Seasons ( Fall Harvest,Thanksgiving and Halloween)
November: Alphabet Book
December: Holidays around the world)
January: Transportation
February: Space
March: Animals or Food and Nutrition (Healthy Living)
April: Plant/ Garden
May: Ocean
June: Community Helpers
Progress reports for Montessori Students are issued at the end of December and June. For our regular Kindergarten Classes one report card will be sent out in June. However, we are always available to meet with parents to discuss questions and concerns you may have regarding your child’s progress. If at any point you would like to schedule an appointment, please feel free to contact us.
Do not allow your children to bring toys from home to class. There are more than enough toys, games and puzzles here at the school. We will not be held accountable for missing or broken items. Nor will we spend time trying to locate missing items after classes are dismissed.
We are unable to offer make-up days for classes missed this year. If you schedule a holiday during scheduled class periods, you are still responsible for payment. You are responsible to provide thirty day written notice if you intend to withdraw your child permanently from the program.
